does my clutch need changing?

I had a mk 2 escort that did that and it was the clutch so may need changing.I think it cost about 35 for the clutch then 120 ish labour. Good luck whats the mileage? Has it had clutch change before? Matt

yeah you should be able to adjust the from the clutch end above the gear box only a 10mm spanner needed. if i remember and without looking at mine i think its beside the airbox dont remember if anything is on top of it but mine is a turbo so i got hoses everywhere lol get the old haynes manual out it should show you.

Hi there, interesting question ... tbh everyone stalls my 440 because of the clutch biting point being so high. It's been like that for the 70k.+ that I've done in it and it's no 'worse' now than in 2001. On that basis I'd say it's normal. Cheers, Anthony.
