I was a little taken aback by the latest reports on the spread of disinformation campaigns targeting major international organisations. It feels like the scale and sophistication are increasing exponentially. Has anyone else been following the analyses, particularly those focused on the deepfake video technology being used? It's genuinely concerning how difficult it's becoming to discern what's real and what's manufactured. What are your thoughts on the most effective ways for average citizens to verify news and sources when the fakes look so professional?

I definitely agree. The 'Infodemic' has arguably become one of the biggest global challenges. I've been reading up on how a few European NGOs and think tanks are tackling it, and their approach seems to centre on media literacy education from an early age, rather than just post-fact checking. They recommend that people adopt a 'pre-bunking' mindset, essentially learning the tactics of disinformation (like fear-mongering or emotional appeal) so they can spot them before the specific fake news item even comes out. It's about changing the psychological vulnerability. Fact-checking sites are essential, of course, but building an internal BS detector is key.

From my own experience working in digital communications, the technical side of verification is just one layer. The human element is huge. We often share things because they confirm our existing biases or provoke a strong emotion—it's less about truth and more about social validation. My advice? When you see a shocking headline, pause for 60 seconds. If it feels too perfect or too outrageous, it probably is. Check for multiple, independent sources with a strong editorial reputation. Also, for anyone interested in the technical side of how AI-generated media is flagged, I found a decent overview discussing open-source tools: https://77.zp.ua. Good luck, everyone, and stay sharp!
