I have just realized that I have never seen the default Reaper theme as it was supposed to look! I always thought the font choice of Helvetica was particularly ugly but figured there were reasons. But it's just dawned on me today that Calibri is font mentioned in rtconfig and coded in the default 6 and 7.reapertheme But Calibri does not come installed on Macs. Never has. We fallback to Helvetica instead (which is not pretty). BUT once Calibri is installed, Reaper immediately uses it and the text alignment is now quite broken. Screenshots...

I'd just like to say sorry in case this is a major headache for someone. BTW, the new rtconfig and WALTER is quite beautiful. I really think beautiful is the word to use. Thank you White Tie.

I know there are significant differences in how fonts display from system to system and it can be a nightmare trying to get things to look right in all cases. The funny thing is ('cause it I don't like Helvetica in Reaper) since v5 adjusting fonts is my first immediate theme tweak. And I have no real display or alignment issues problems doing so (believe me, I've tried a ton). Colibri on my Macbook is actually the worst case of a font display going wrong that I've ever seen. Maybe (?) Colibri for Windows is the option that lead to the best outcome on Mac when Helvetica is the substitute with the minimum amount of OS-dependent WALTER tweaks to font positions and size? I dunno. For those who like to tweak, I like Futura or Eurostile/Microgramma for a very distinctive vintage vibe (and very similar to what was used on old analog gear back in the 60s and 70s) and Droid Sans has a distinct vibe and gives great readability (especially the distinction of l and L and 1). And yes, in v7 the macOS transport bug still exists: you must choose a font with variant named "bold" for tranport status or it will not display and defaults to Helvetica.

seeing them side by side I might prefer Helvetica. For my own tweak of the theme I've either increase size by a point or two, or selected bold.
